How to play Naija Roots

The goal

ROOTS 3D: track down a mystery Nigerian tribe or African nation with your start.ng explorer.

Controls

• Naija Heritage: guess the Nigerian tribe.

• Africa 54: guess which of Africa's 54 countries.

• Naija Heritage: tap a state, pick a tribe (or search the full list), then Confirm.

• Africa 54: tap a country, then Confirm. On phones, the first tap zooms in and the second tap picks.

• Daily: one mystery per mode, the same for everyone, once a day. A new one arrives at 1:00 AM Nigeria time (00:00 UTC). Daily wins count towards your Best expedition and Daily streak.

• Endless: play as many as you like.

Scoring and the leaderboard

Players are ranked by Best expedition (highest first). If two players tie, Daily streak (highest first) and Origins found (highest first) decides it. Only your best run counts. Sign in with start.ng to save yours.

Before you start

Open Naija Roots at naija-roots.start.ng. It runs in your browser, so there is nothing to download.

Sign in with start.ng first if you want your best run saved to the leaderboard.
